Walt Disney World—I Need To Hear Your Tips!

In a few weeks, my family will be taking our first ever trip to Walt Disney World.  We are all SO excited!

My kids have been asking to go on this trip for years and we finally decided the timing is perfect.  My daughter is princess obsessed, my son is Mickey obsessed, and I have a feeling this trip just might be our best vacation ever. We are doing all 4 parks including 2 separate days at Magic Kingdom. CANNOT. WAIT.

The type A planner in me has been BUSY making sure we have everything we need.  2 card tables have been set up divided into sections of what to pack for each of us.  A notebook has been created broken down into sections of what to buy, what to pack, etc.  Dining reservations have been secured.  Fast passes have been booked.  Magic bands have arrived.  Matching family T shirts are ready.  We are SET.

My Disney Notebook…aka everything we need written down in one place. #typea #soorganized. Also, my son’s pull ups just so happen to be Mickey themed…perfect, lol:

And, as only a true book lover would do…I have timed my library wait list selection so that the books I want to bring with me will be all ready for me just in time to come along to Florida.  I told you…type A here 🙂  You can read more about why I bring library books with me on vacations here.

We aren’t leaving for a few more weeks but I will be doing a recap once we are home.

Magic bands have ARRIVED!

So tell me…what’s your best Disney advice?  Things to pack?  Things to know while we are there?  Best tips?

I’m all ears…mouse ears, that is 😉

Xo,

Jenny

  1. That’s so exciting! My family and I love going to Disney World 🙂 Your trip already sounds great!

Magic bands were a great decision! My best suggestion is to plan out every day that you will be there, and make sure that you strategize with every ride or attraction, but also have back up options in case some lines are too long. If you are going to Magic Kingdom for 2 days, I suggest you try to do things on one half of the park for the first day, and do the other half the next day (so that no one will get too tired by crossing the park multiple times!). And since you have the Magic bands, the My Disney Experience app is a must! My family uses it all the time, and it’s very helpful to use it before and during the trip. I hope this helps!

    1. Thank you so much for this, great suggestions. I have downloaded the app and have been trying to familiarize myself with it before we leave…it’s such an amazing resource! Thanks again for your tips, I so appreciate them 🙂

  2. Must sees/do’s: Fireworks at Magic Kingdom; Pirates of the Caribbean; The Haunted Mansion; Tower of Terror; Eat at the Living Seas pavilion; Mission Space; Star Wars ride; Frozen ride in Norway pavilion; Safari Ride in the MORNING at Animal Kingdom; Beauty and the Beast section of Fantasy Land; and Turtle Talk with Crash. If you plan to see ANY parade, must find spots to watch from a FULL HOUR before the parade or won’t be able to see much. Have a magical trip!

  3. Join the Disney Dorks group on FB. Lots of tips there. 🙂 Eat someplace outside the park. The food at the park is so overpriced! You can also bring in your own food, from what I remember. I know we brought our own sandwiches to Animal Kingdom. If you go to AK, go see the Finding Nemo musical. Super cute! Take some breaks to rest or risk your younger child having a meltdown. There’s just a lot of stimulation. Stay for the fireworks at night. If you go to Hollywood Studios, the Toy Story ride is the best!
    Hope you have a blast!!!

  4. Follow Tom Bricker’s Disney Tourist Blog. It’s great, I found it so much help when we went last year. Eat everything that appeals to you – the food is AMAZING. And wear comfy shoes and take blister plasters!
