I feel like the theme on my blog over the past 2 weeks has been “unpopular opinions”. It started with Let’s Chat: When Your Opinion Is The Unpopular One and then continued with Book Review: Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine {Gail Honeyman}
Ladies and Gentleman, may I present to you my unintentional 3rd installment over the past 2 weeks revolving around this same theme (insert eye roll emoji here):
Synopsis from Goodreads:
When you read this book, you will make many assumptions.
You will assume you are reading about a jealous ex-wife.
You will assume she is obsessed with her replacement – a beautiful, younger woman who is about to marry the man they both love.
You will assume you know the anatomy of this tangled love triangle.
Assume nothing.
Twisted and deliciously chilling, Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen’s The Wife Between Us exposes the secret complexities of an enviable marriage – and the dangerous truths we ignore in the name of love.
Read between the lies.
My Thoughts:
(Disclaimer: I will never post spoilers in my reviews HOWEVER the comment section is completely fair game to discuss any and all specifics including spoilers)
2 Stars
This book is POPULAR. Everyone is reading it. It’s even currently nominated for the Goodreads Best Book of 2018 Award!
I just don’t get it.
I wanted to love it, I really did. I waited for MONTHS for it to finally be released and once it was, I couldn’t get my hands on a copy fast enough. It sounded AMAZING, I was so intrigued from just reading the synopsis.
It. Was. So. Boring.
The major twist was interesting, I didn’t see it coming AT ALL which I love in a book. Hence my 2 stars. 2 stars for the twist, 0 stars for the rest. I’m bored even writing this review.
Completely forgettable characters, completely forgettable story lines. Completely forgettable book.
The biggest, most burning question that I have about this book: It took TWO people to write this boring story?!?
Bottom Line:
This might just be my most disappointing book of 2018. I was SO excited to read it…and then I was SO excited for it to finally be over once I finished.
I’m finding a lot of the super hyped books end up being complete bombs for me. Are they being hyped because they are truly awful and that’s the onl way to sell them? I’m not sure but I’ve been on the fence even spending time reading this one.

I’m not sure. I remember feeling like an oddball though. The big twist in the middle was interesting, but then that was it for me. 🧡

oh no, sorry to hear you hated this one – minus the big twist! I haven’t read it; it’s not really one that’s ever been on top of my NEED TO READ list.
