Blogmas 2022: The Holiday Book I’m Most Excited to Read NEXT Holiday Season

Blogmas 2022: The Holiday Book I’m Most Excited to Read NEXT Holiday Season

Loving this scent! Obvi not nearly as much as my beloved Winter Candy Apple but it’s a good one…

Here are 2 screenshots of the exchange I had with a blog reader last week:

I mean, that’s QUITE the positive book recommendation! I don’t know this blog reader in real life but I DO know that she has been reading my blog for quite some time and she knows my taste in books. This message exchange made me want to read this holiday book NOW! I put it on hold at my library but sadly, it’s still not in…and I’ve got other holiday books that I’m not so patiently waiting to read (I’m looking at you, Winter Novels)! Considering that I’m always DONE and so over reading holiday books by January, I will need to put this one to the side for now.

So Blogmas 2023….the first official holiday book that I will be reading will be…Once Upon a December!

Goodreads Synopsis of Once Upon a December {Amy E. Reichert}:

With a name like Astra Noel Snow, holiday spirit isn’t just a seasonal specialty–it’s a way of life. But after a stinging divorce, Astra’s yearly trip to the Milwaukee Christmas market takes on a whole new meaning. She’s ready to eat, drink, and be merry, especially with the handsome stranger who saves the best kringle for her at his family bakery.

For Jack Clausen, the Julemarked with its snowy lights and charming shops stays the same, while the world outside the joyful street changes, magically leaping from one December to the next every four weeks. He’s never minded living this charmed existence until Astra shows him the life he’s been missing outside of the festive red brick alley.

After a swoon-worthy series of dates, some Yuletide magic, and the unexpected glow of new love, Astra and Jack must decide whether this relationship can weather all seasons, or if what they’re feeling is as ephemeral as marshmallows in a mug of hot cocoa.

Sounds so cute, right?? Have any of you read it?? I’d love to hear your thoughts…BUT ABSOLUTELY NO SPOILERS!

The Book I Am The Most Excited To Read This Summer

The Book I Am The Most Excited To Read This Summer

Chillin’ at one of my favorite places on the planet…my bestie’s pool! Fun fact: Unbeknownst to me, her landscaper entered the pool area JUST as I was taking this selfie while she was inside of the house. It was awkward for both of us.

Earlier in the week I had quite the adventure literally CHASING a book around town. I wanted to buy a copy of this book so badly and I was on a MISSION. I documented the entire ordeal on Instagram Stories throughout the day but I never revealed the title of the book :).

I had been on the library waitlist for weeks and I had a feeling that my name wasn’t moving up to the top slot anytime soon. And then last Monday, I received the following message from my dear friend and book twin, Jana:

Straw that broke the camel’s back? Check. I LOVED 28 Summers SO MUCH! If you haven’t yet read 28 Summers, you must read it ASAP…it’s so wonderful (except for the tiny fact that the entire beautiful story is centered around horrible infidelity…read my review HERE).

The very next day after receiving this message from my book twin, I set out on a mission. I started at Barnes and Noble where I was told that not only did they not have any copies but NO BARNES AND NOBLE in the AREA had any copies. Everyone is reading this book right now! I left the store feeling a bit discouraged but also even more intrigued to find myself a copy…

Bookstore #2: Barbara’s Bookstore in Hawthorn Mall. They had 3 copies! Barbara’s Bookstore for the WIN!

**So many of you messaged me asking if I tried looking for the book on Amazon or Target. I had not because I really wanted to buy it from a bookstore. I so rarely buy books (I love my library so much) so when I do actually purchase a book, I just love the experience of shopping in bookstores and supporting the book community!**

The Book I Am The Most Excited To Read This Summer:

I’m hoping to start reading either tonight or tomorrow…I’ll share my thoughts as soon as I finish! My expectations are obviously HIGH for this one, fingers crossed I’m not disappointed…

Have you read this book? What did you think? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below but ABSOLUTELY NO SPOILERS, PLEASE!!

I Bought 2 New Books Last Night!

I Bought 2 New Books Last Night!

My daughter and I had some very special mommy/daughter time yesterday. We saw an amazing play (The Sound of Music), and when it was over we headed to the mall. We had exactly 1 hour to shop before our dinner reservations at Maggianos…the perfect amount of time for each of us to choose 1 store for a little pre-dinner shopping.

She chose Claire’s (obvi). I chose the bookstore (obvi).

1 set of fake unicorn nails (her), 1 adorable headband (me), and 2 newly released books (also me) later, we called our mini shopping excursion a success. We then went to the restaurant where we enjoyed a delicious dinner and I introduced her the complete joy known as olive oil and parmesan cheese for dipping the bread. Aaaaaaand obviously we stopped at Crumbl Cookies on our way back home because I apparently live there now.

According to Crumbl, this cookie that I inhaled in about 3 minutes flat last night was: “A tasty graham cracker cookie decorated with honey butter frosting, a light drizzle of honey, and Teddy Graham®️ Crackers”.

Opening a Crumbl so close to my house continues to be a complete (although delicious) disaster. I really wish they had opened a salad bar instead.

So what 2 books did I buy at the mall?

New Book #1: Book Lovers {Emily Henry}:

Ok so I’ve been wavering for months on if I would be reading this one. I’ve heard such great things but I was NOT a fan of Beach Read (you can read my review of that very boring book HERE). And then last week, my cousin told me that she loved Book Lovers so much that she’s already read it TWICE! That definitely swayed my opinion! I’ll post a full review once I finish reading…

Goodreads Synopsis of Book Lovers {Emily Henry}:

One summer. Two rivals. A plot twist they didn’t see coming….

Nora Stephens’ life is books – she’s read them all – and she is not that type of heroine. Not the plucky one, not the laidback dream girl, and especially not the sweetheart. In fact, the only people Nora is a heroine for are her clients, for whom she lands enormous deals as a cutthroat literary agent, and her beloved little sister Libby.

Which is why she agrees to go to Sunshine Falls, North Carolina for the month of August when Libby begs her for a sisters’ trip away – with visions of a small-town transformation for Nora, who she’s convinced needs to become the heroine in her own story. But instead of picnics in meadows, or run-ins with a handsome country doctor or bulging-forearmed bartender, Nora keeps bumping into Charlie Lastra, a bookish brooding editor from back in the city. It would be a meet-cute if not for the fact that they’ve met many times and it’s never been cute.

If Nora knows she’s not an ideal heroine, Charlie knows he’s nobody’s hero, but as they are thrown together again and again – in a series of coincidences no editor worth their salt would allow – what they discover might just unravel the carefully crafted stories they’ve written about themselves.

New Book #2: Lease on Love {Falon Ballard}:

So this one is alllllll over Bookstagram and apparently EVERYONE loves it. I really shouldn’t go by what everyone else is loving because quite often I feel the opposite (again, HERE is my review of Beach Read)…Fingers crossed I love this one! I’ll post my review once I finish reading…

Goodreads Synopsis of Lease on Love {Falon Ballard}:

After getting passed over for an overdue—and much needed—promotion, Sadie Green is in desperate need of three things: a stiff drink, a new place to live, and a one-night-stand. When one drink turns into one too many, Sadie mixes up a long-ignored dating app for a roommate-finding app and finds herself on the doorstep of Jack Thomas’s gorgeous Brooklyn brownstone. Too bad she’s more attracted to his impressive real estate than she is to the man himself.

Jack, still grieving the unexpected death of his parents, has learned to find comfort in video games and movie marathons instead of friends. So while he doesn’t know just what to make of the vivaciously verbose Sadie, he’s willing to offer her his spare bedroom while she gets back on her feet. And with the rent unbeatably low, Sadie can finally pursue her floristry side hustle full-time. The two are polar opposites, but as Sadie’s presence begins to turn the brownstone into a home, they both start to realize they may have just made the deal of a lifetime.

Now for the big question: Which of my 2 new books should I read first???

Have you read either of these books? What did you think (NO SPOILERS PLEASE)? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!

I. LOVE. THIS. BOOK. SO. MUCH.

I. LOVE. THIS. BOOK. SO. MUCH.

My daughter bought the most delicious smelling candle and it’s burning as I type up this post! It smells amaaaazing in here!

When I checked this book out of the library, I had never heard of it. I’m SO GLAD I randomly stumbled upon this gem on a shelf! I love this book so, SO very much and I couldn’t wait to share it with you. You’ll love it, too 🙂

Goodreads Synopsis of The Last Chance Library {Freya Sampson}:

June Jones emerges from her shell to fight for her beloved local library, and through the efforts and support of an eclectic group of library patrons, she discovers life-changing friendships along the way.

Lonely librarian June Jones has never left the sleepy English village where she grew up. Shy and reclusive, the thirty-year-old would rather spend her time buried in books than venture out into the world. But when her library is threatened with closure, June is forced to emerge from behind the shelves to save the heart of her community and the place that holds the dearest memories of her mother.

Joining a band of eccentric yet dedicated locals in a campaign to keep the library, June opens herself up to other people for the first time since her mother died. It just so happens that her old school friend Alex Chen is back in town and willing to lend a helping hand. The kindhearted lawyer’s feelings for her are obvious to everyone but June, who won’t believe that anyone could ever care for her in that way.

To save the place and the books that mean so much to her, June must finally make some changes to her life. For once, she’s determined not to go down without a fight. And maybe, in fighting for her cherished library, June can save herself, too.

My Review of The Last Chance Library {Freya Sampson}:

As you are well aware, I am a HUGE fan of libraries. A book all about saving a library? Ummm yes please!

I loved every single word of this book. What a BEAUTIFULLY written story! If you are a book lover (which if you are reading this blog one would assume that you are) this book is a MUST READ.

The characters were delightful….the whole book was delightful! I smiled, I laughed, I cried. I absolutely loved it. Such a beautiful story. I finished reading yesterday and I have not stopped thinking about this book since. I simply cannot recommend this one highly enough. It’s perfect.

Bottom Line:

If you love libraries, you will LOVE this special book.

Best First Line of a Book Ever!

How beautiful is this bookmark that one of my preschool students gave to me for the holidays? The little flower in the crystal ball is my favorite part. 🌸

I started reading a new book last night and to say that I absolutely LOVE the first line would be a serious understatement.

How incredibly TRUE is that?!?

That beauty of a first line belongs to this book:

Synopsis of The Last Chance Library {Freya Sampson}:

I’ll post my review once I finish reading!

Happy Friday! I hope your weekend is filled with love and BOOKS!
