Coronavirus Quarantine Life

Hi Friends!

How are you doing during this Coronavirus quarantine?  We are doing well, staying HOME, and trying to do all that we can to avoid exposure to this crazy virus.

I am usually VERY strict about lighting seasonal candles only during the appropriate season.  This quarantine has thrown all of those rules out the window!  Loving going through all of my candles with zero regard as to which season they correspond to!  Burning my all time favorite Bath and Body Works Winter Candle Apple as we speak 🙂

Last week my husband took my kids on a bike ride and my son fell asleep in the bike trailer.  Every time!!!  I was waiting inside (DAMN BROKEN TOE 3 MONTHS LATER) with open arms and an open book! My daughter took this picture, I love it.  He slept on me for over an hour like this!  FYI…the book I’m reading in this photo is Wake of the Sadico By Jo Sparkes (affiliate)!  I’m still reading but plan to finish this weekend (hopefully today).  I’ll have a full review and GIVEAWAY for you next week!  Stay tuned…

Reading side by side with my daughter one night last week.  The best!  I really, really hope that she will always and forever love books as much as her mama does…

My precious vintage Marshall Field’s teddy bear in our window (Marshall Field’s I MISS YOU) is hopefully providing smiles for people out walking during this quarantine.

Happy Passover to those celebrating!  We had such a lovely virtual seder with my family!

Book Blogging During a Quarantine

Omg you guys loved my last post!  I’m so glad!  That post is now officially one of the most viewed posts ever on this book blog! 🙂 I really hopes it helps those of you looking for a good book to read during this quarantined time at home.  I’d love to hear which ones you read!

As for us, we are doing ok here and social distancing from the outside world. Homeschooling, playing outside, READING, and spending time as a family.  This quarantine is scary…I now officially have 2 friends who have been diagnosed with COVID-19.  Our family is staying HOME and I hope you and your family are as well.  As of now, the return date for school is May 4 but I truly don’t think that the kids will be going back this school year.  Crazy.

My view from this morning.  My daughter was working on a self guided coding lesson for one of her school assignments today (super cool) so I had a bit of time to start working on this post!

And my current blogging situation.  Blogging under an umbrella (so I can see my computer under the sun) while sitting on my hammock as my kids are jumping on their trampoline.  It’s a GORGEOUS day here today!  Feels so wonderful to be outside. Our current plan is to stay out here as long as possible!

In other news, a few days ago my children set up a “library” on their bunk bed where they laid out books and I had to come and “check them out”.  Once I made my selection, my daughter typed my name and the book title on her computer, handed the book to my son, and he was in charge of “swiping” my library card.  They LOVED doing this and obviously I was proud that of all of the places, they created a library. My library card:

I’m currently reading this book, I’ll have a full blog review up when I finish!  This was one that I had never heard of but I spotted it on the library shelf and it caught my eye.  I love when that happens!

Aaaaaaaand this has nothing to do with books but TIGER KING.  Have you watched???  My husband and I watched all of them over 3 days.  It’s crazy and unbelievable and insane and weird and totally messed up and AWESOME.  Thank you Netflix for releasing this gem at the most perfect time!

Stay safe everyone…

Jenny

What Are YOU Currently Reading?

Hi Friends!

Over the past 9 months I have shared alllllll of my feelings on books.  I have updated you on what I’ve been currently reading, books I have read in the past, and books that I can’t wait to read in the future.

Today it’s your turn 🙂

I want to hear from YOU!  In the comments below, tell me what YOU are currently reading!  I love posts like these because people feed off each other and learn about some great books.  I will often host discussions like this on my Facebook page but I’ve never done one on my blog…today is the day!

Please comment down below with the book title that you are currently reading.  Feel free to share your thoughts on it but absolutely NO SPOILERS!  Don’t be that person who ruins books for other people (aka my enemies)…

Have fun with this!  The more people who comment the more book ideas we can all get.  Absolutely feel free to reply to other comments as well!

I’ll leave the first comment…although the jury is still out on whether or not I will end up recommending this book once I finish.  IF I finish…Ugh.

The Currently Reading Book Tag

I first saw the “Currently Reading Book Tag” on Perfectly Tolerable and thought it would be fun to participate!  I always love seeing glimpses into the reading habits of others…here are some of mine:

The Currently Reading Book Tag

How Many Books Do You Usually Read At Once?

ONE.  How in the world do people read more than 1 book at a time???

How Do You Decide When To Switch Between Multiple Reads?

See above.

Do You Ever Switch Bookmarks Partway Through A Book?

This is what I do.  Every single time.  Yikes.

Where Do You Keep the Book(s) You’re Currently Reading?

Wherever I am…the book is.  Usually in my purse, my car, or on my nightstand. A friend once laughed at me as she was watching me unload groceries from my car and noticed I also unloaded a book. “You brought a book with you to the GROCERY STORE?” she asked. My response was, “I bring a book with me everywhere!”

(#nerd)

What Time of Day Do You Read the Most?

My son’s afternoon nap time! 90 percent of my Instagram stories are shot while he’s sleeping, lol.

How Long Do You Typically Read in One Session?

Until a child wakes up, a child needs water, a child wants to cuddle, a child needs help….or….until I fall asleep.

Do You Read Hardbacks with the Dust Jacket Off?

Always!  Doesn’t everyone?

What Position Do You Mainly Use to Read?

Sitting behind the wheel of my (parked obvi) car while my son is napping in his car seat.

Do You Take Your Current Read with You Everywhere You Go?

Literally everywhere.  I RARELY leave the house without a book.  What if I suddenly find myself in a situation where I could enjoy a few chapters?  Always prepared. *See grocery store story above.*

What book(s) are you currently reading?

The Mother-In-Law By Sally Hepworth

Let’s Chat: Do You Treat Library Books Better or Worse Than Your Own Books?

l

Last week, a friend of mine emailed me with an idea for a blog post…bringing library books on vacation!  I immediately loved her idea and knew it would make for a great post.  She was packing for an upcoming trip and was unsure if she wanted to risk damaging library books by bringing them on her vacation.  She was nervous about the ocean water, sunscreen, tropical drinks, etc. getting on her borrowed library books.  She asked my opinion and I didn’t hesitate when I immediately wrote her back…

Bring them!

I LOVE LIBRARY BOOKS.  Like…a lot.  And while I’m definitely careful and respectful of borrowed library books, I do tend to not treat them as well than if they were my own.  I find myself resting my coffee mugs directly on the covers, tossing them into my car, etc.

If I spend money on a book, I treat it with much more care.  I would NEVER rest my coffee on it!  Coasters all the way.  I would NEVER throw it into my car!  It would be carefully placed on the passenger seat next to me.

Not to mention, library books DO have that nice protective coating over them sooooo….there’s that.

Having this attitude towards library books means I ALWAYS bring them on my vacations!  They get shoved into my seat pocket on the airplane, thrown into my beach bag, and packed away to return home buried under the souvenirs in my suitcase.  I never worry about damaging them!  In fact, just the opposite…I don’t worry about them at all, lol.

I’ve been very lucky that I’ve never damaged a library book.  I’m quite certain that my opinion and how I tend to treat them would very much change if I ever did…

Until then?  I’ll just keep my fingers crossed that the protective coating over the cover does it’s job. 🙂

Speaking of library books, here’s the one I am currently reading!  I started it last night and am absolutely LOVING it so far. Have you read this one?

I have an awesome book giveaway scheduled for Wednesday…make sure you check the blog! I can’t wait to share this wonderful book with you!

So tell me…Do you treat library books better or worse then your own books?

I’m traveling next month and would love to hear your book recommendations!  What should I pack to read during my trip???  I asked this question on Facebook yesterday and got some fantastic responses!  (If you missed my 2019 Spring Break Book Recommendations, you can read them here).

Do you have any suggestions for future blog posts?  I’d love to hear them and possibly use them!  Please let me know!

It would really help me if you could follow/subscribe to my blog.  Also, please “like” my Facebook page ,  follow me on Twitter, and follow me on Instagram!
