Blogmas 2022: The Bookish Gift I Bought For Myself

Blogmas 2022: The Bookish Gift I Bought For Myself

Do you remember last year when I took myself on a trip to Barnes and Noble on my birthday and saw so many cute holiday bookish items (you can read about that lovely day HERE)?

The mug. The mug. I should have bought the MUG. I rarely have buyers remorse but I’m not exaggerating when I say that I have been thinking about that mug for a solid YEAR. It was so beautiful and perfect. The books, the tree, the gold handle….why didn’t I buy it that day?! Well as I stated in that post, I thought it was too “Christmasy” (I’m Jewish). BUUUUUUT now a year later I own a Christmas Village (if you follow me on Instagram you know alllll about my little village) so a holiday themed mug just seems fitting. And perfect.

So last month I went BACK to Barnes and Noble in search of my beautiful mug but alas…it was gone. Replaced by some newer holiday items (some amazing!) but none as amazing and special as the beautiful 2021 mug. A manager confirmed it…no more 2021 holiday mugs. Sigh.

When I got back into my car, I tried Amazon. Nope.

And then…

The Barnes and Noble website.

Sure enough, a quick search led me straight to my beautiful 2021 holiday mug! Within 2 minutes, it was purchased (happily paid shipping!) and on it’s way to meeeeeeee!

The Bookish Gift I Bought For Myself

A few days later and my beautiful birthday present to myself arrived on my front porch.

She’s heeeeeeere!
Oh hello lover. You and I are going to be spending LOTS of quality time together!

If you are looking for an adorable gift for a book lover, HERE is a link to my mug (not an affiliate link)!

I freaking love this mug so much! Totally meant to be mine. Happy Birthday to meeeeeee! Speaking of birthdays, here is a video of me choosing the winner from my birthday Target gift card giveaway:

***EDITED TO ADD*** Ahhhh I’m not sure how this happened but a bunch of names were left off of that giveaway!  UGH! I had already sent the gift card to the winner…so I just added the missing names and picked another winner!  Here are the TWO videos of me choosing 2 winners.  In the spirit of the holiday season (and my mistake), I’m happy to do this to make it fair for everyone who entered.  I’m so sorry!  Xo!***

Happy 3rd Birthday, Book Coffee Happy!

Ahhhh my favorite hobby turned 3 years old last week! Happy Birthday, Book Coffee Happy!

3 years of books, blogging, making new book friends, book discussions, authors so graciously sending me their books, and so much more. Aaaaaand…3 years of me teaching myself how to build, maintain, and GROW a website! I’m definitely proud of myself 🙂

3 years of YOU! My dearest blog readers! Some of you I know in real life, most of you I do not. Thank you from the very bottom of my heart for reading my blog. I have faithfully been reading other people’s blogs since 2007 (!) and I absolutely love that I now have one of my very own. Thank you for signing up with your email address to follow my blog, for commenting on blog posts, for following/commenting on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter (still not completely sure how to use Twitter), YouTube (I rarely post on YouTube but it’s such fun when I do), for buying things through my Amazon Affiliate links, and for your overall support. NOTHING makes me happier or more proud as a blogger than when someone tells me that they read a book based on one of my suggestions and it has become a new favorite for them. Mission accomplished 🙂

I take this space very seriously and I always try my best to write posts that I personally would love to read. Book reviews, book suggestions, book giveaways, book discussions, aaaaaaand some bits here and there of my personal life. I simply CANNOT write this blog without bits of my personal life creeping in here and there but I do focus mostly on books in this space. Perhaps the hardest part of blogging has been to not talk in any details about my children! I have never once said their names or shown their faces in this space and that has been HARD. Being a mom is the greatest gift and not talking about them hurts my heart. Maybe one day they will make a blog appearance…

This past year of blogging has been filled with all kinds of adventures!

A few highlights:

The return of IN PERSON browsing throughout my beloved library

I visited the most amazing bookstore I’ve ever seen

A blog post of mine went VIRAL (SO. FREAKING. COOL.)

I became a “Library Hero”

I read the very best book I’ve ever read

I got a new job

…and so much more! THE BEST quarantined family vacations and more all in the face of a global pandemic.

How I usually look while I’m reading. Robe, coffee, and glasses!

This blog has always been so important to me but I was especially thankful for it during the past year. When the outside world was a scary place, I was still able to enjoy reading and blogging from the safety of my home. Reading was the PERFECT activity to have during the past year! I hope my little blog was able to provide you with some suggestions of things to read for your mind to escape when your body truly wasn’t able to leave. I love the following quote so, so much: “Reading gives us someplace to go when we have to stay where we are.” How PERFECT is that quote to describe the past year????

Happiest of Birthdays to you, Book Coffee Happy. Thank you for being my most creative outlet and my most favorite hobby. I can’t wait to see where the future will take us!

You can read all about Book Coffee Happy’s 1st birthday HERE and Book Coffee Happy’s 2nd birthday HERE!

Random Book Blogger Thoughts

I have so many random thoughts to share with you today that I decided to dedicate an entire post to them, lol. I actually think I will do this as a regular series on Book Coffee Happy 🙂 Welcome to the the first installment of Random Book Blogger Thoughts!

Thank You

Thank you so much for all of your kind comments on my LAST POST. To be completely transparent, I was nervous to write that post and after I finally did write it…I almost deleted it before posting. I was very worried that I was going to come across as insincere and that was absolutely NOT my intention! I was so pleasantly surprised to see that I am not the only one who feels the way that I do. Book related discussions are so amazing and some of the comments on that post brought up such excellent points! I would still love to hear from the other side but I completely respect why you might not want to comment on this topic.

Book I Recently Read

I finished reading Kelly Yang’s Parachutes yesterday. I’ll post my review here next week…stay tuned!

A Book Poll

Thank you to everyone who has answered my poll on Instagram! SO many of you did and I appreciate the advice! I have these 2 books both currently checked out of the library and I truly couldn’t decide which to read next…I’ve heard great things about both! Here are the final results! Excited to start reading Invisible Girl tonight 🙂

My Daughter’s Homework

My daughter’s 3rd grade teacher has assigned each student to read for 20 minutes each day and it has quickly turned into one of my favorite times of the entire day! She grabs a book, I grab a book, my son grabs a book, and the 3 of us cuddle up and silently read for 20 minutes. I light a candle and have a mug of steaming coffee. HEAVEN. I promised her that whenever she needs to read for homework, I will ALWAYS join her! I love, love, love this time in the day. NOTE: The second that 20 minute timer goes off, my children literally RUN out of the room…but you KNOW Mama stays and finishes whatever chapter she’s in the middle of, lol.

This Book Blogger’s Biggest Fan

Nobody on Earth has a more wonderful father than I. He reads every single post I write and always has such wonderful and supportive things to say. I LOVE YOU, DAD!

Children’s Book Giveaway

I have an AWESOME giveaway coming up on Wednesday for a BEAUTIFUL children’s book! This book truly speaks directly to my heart and I’m so excited to share it with you! Be sure to check back here on Wednesday for your chance to win.

Your turn…tell me something random in the comments below!

The Sunshine Blogger Award

Thank you so much Lauren of LaLa’s Book Reviews for nominating me for the Sunshine Blogger Award!

What is the Sunshine Blogger Award?

The Sunshine Blogger Award is given to those who are creative, positive and inspiring while spreading sunshine to the blogging community.

How does it work?

  • Thank the blogger(s) who nominated you in a blog post and link back to their blog.
  • Answer the 11 questions sent by the person who nominated you.
  • Nominate 11 new blogs to receive the award and write them 11 new questions.
  • List the rules and display the Sunshine Blogger Award logo in your post and/or on your blog.

Lauren’s Questions for Me:

You’re stranded on a deserted island. Which 3 book characters would you want to be with you to get you back?

Lexie Vidler because she truly knows the skill of devoting everything she has to solving the problem at hand. She would absolutely be able to think of a plan to get us off that island!

Emoni Santiago because she would make sure that we would be well fed while trying to figure out a way off that island!

Becky Bloomwood because she’s such a good friend…I would think having a good friend with me while in this situation would be KEY!

Do you listen to music while you read?

HELL NO.

What’s an unpopular book that you love?

Convenience Store Woman by Sayaka Murata. Loved it. Read it’s synopsis and my review of it HERE.

Who is your favorite bookish couple?

My first thought was Mallory Blessing and Jake McCloud buuuuuuut then I remembered the circumstances behind their love and now that answer feels icky.

Would you rather listen to an audiobook or read an ebook?

NEITHER! More on my thoughts HERE.

What’s one of your unpopular bookish opinions?

I wrote an entire post on this topic HERE!

Roughly how many books do you own and haven’t read?

Just a handful! Proud to be a minimalist! More on my thoughts around that HERE 🙂

What’s a book that you always recommend?

The Most Fun We Ever Had by Claire Lombardo. Such a beautifully written book! Read it’s synopsis and my review of it HERE.

Do you have designated time to read each day?

I’m a stay at home mom of 2 young children currently quarantining, remote learning, and homeschooling all during a global pandemic. So….no.

Do you have an organization system for your books?

I do! My desk has built in shelves. Library books waiting to be read on the left, books I own and waiting to be read on the right, books I’ve finished and need to blog about on the top. I’m pretty Type A when it comes to organization. Read (and watch the video!) about how I organize my life HERE.

What has been a book that you’ve been wanting to read forever?

Love in the Time of Cholera! I have been wanting to read it for years ever since it was referenced so many times in my favorite movie of all time. I’ve owned the book for years but have never actually read it…maybe this is the year??

11 Questions for the people I tag (if I didn’t tag you or you don’t have a blog but still want to participate, feel free to answer in the comments below! I’d love to hear your answers)!

Best book you have ever read?

Worst book you have ever read?

Book you are currently reading?

If you could visit the home of any fictional character, where would you like to go?

Describe your perfect scenario/surroundings for enjoying a good book.

Least favorite book character of all time?

Most favorite book character of all time?

What was the last book you read and would you recommend it to others?

Book that made you cry?

Book that made you laugh out loud?

Random Thoughts From a Book Blogger

Hiiiiiii! This post is filled with a whole bunch of super random thoughts from a book blogger…

I won an Instagram giveaway from Jennastopreading and I’m so excited! Look at these amazing books that she sent me! Have you read any of these? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below! I’m so excited to read 3 of them (I’ve actually already read Small Great Things so I am paying it forward and giving it to one of my besties to read…you can read my VERY unpopular thoughts on that book HERE).

A few weeks ago I was laying in bed reading a library copy of The Guest List by Lucy Foley (review coming soon!) and suddenly right at a VERY intense part…this object fell out from the pages and straight onto my chest. Scared the HELL out of me. A business card. From a FUNERAL HOME. Stuck smack in the pages of a very ominous murder mystery thriller. Rigggggght as I was reading a super intense part of the story so I was already on edge. OMG.

Yesterday I posted that I was currently reading this book:

Aaaaaaand I just couldn’t get into it and decided to call it quits last night. It has the potential to be great…but honestly I was just too bored to stick around and find out. Like I always say, too many amazing books out there to read one you aren’t loving! Moving on…

I’m currently reading:

I started reading it last night and will post a full review once I finish! I’ve heard it’s amazing.

We ran out of half and half yesterday and I’m currently drinking my coffee with milk. Ugh. Gross.

The final round of the Goodreads Best Books of 2020 is posted and voting is open until 11/30! American Dirt without a doubt got my vote in the fiction category (I LOVED THAT BOOK! Read my review HERE). Which book did you vote for???

This is the most random blog post ever! Tell me something random going on with you!
