I also went to an event at Barnes and Noble which occurred ON this awesome book’s publishing day! The Good Book Fairy was in conversation with Lisa Barr and it was an amazing discussion. It was interesting to hear them discussing the book without giving ANYTHING away as the book was just released that day! I was only 1 of a handful of people there who had already read an advanced copy so I really enjoyed hearing this discussion from that perspective.

I recently received an advanced copy of Emily Giffin’s newest book, The Summer Pact! I’m currently about 100 pages in. I’ll share my thoughts when I finish! This one releases in July.

I first was introduced to Lisa Barr’s books in 2018 when I first started writing Book Coffee Happy. I had received an advanced copy of The Unbreakables and as soon as I started reading, I was HOOKED. I absolutely loved her writing style and her captivating way of storytelling. You can read the book synopsis and all of my thoughts HERE.
Fast forward to 2021 when I received an advanced copy of Woman on Fire and I absolutely LOVED IT. Like…heart pounding, couldn’t put it down. Amazing. You can read the book synopsis and all of my thoughts HERE.
And now here we are in 2024 and I have received an advanced copy of Lisa’s newest book, The Goddess of Warsaw. My thoughts? I’ll go into detail below but I’ll start by saying…HER BEST BOOK YET.

Omg this book.
It’s SO good. Like, SO good.
I actually read it months ago but wanted to wait until closer to its release date before blogging about it. That date is almost here! You can preorder it now and it officially releases next week (5/28).
This book kept me company during my 2 weeks spent serving on a federal criminal jury back in February! By the end of the trial, all of my fellow jurors had passed this book around the jury table to read it’s synopsis and all agreed that they couldn’t wait to read it!
Like all of Lisa Barr’s books, this one took me on a JOURNEY. Spanning through decades, locations, emotions, and the most carefully crafted characters.
The settings were all written so vividly…how does she even DO that? I felt like I was there.
I smiled, I cried, I hung on to every word of this beautiful story. You know those books that live on in your heart long after you finish reading? This is one of those books for me.
How you can tell I loved a book: When the cover ends up looking like this because I couldn’t leave the house without bringing it EVERYWHERE with me!
I can’t even begin to imagine the amount of research and dedication that must go into writing an historical book such as this. The details in this book were incredible.
With everything going on in the world right now, being proud of being Jewish feels even more important than ever. Whether the reader of this book is Jewish or not, it will teach people so, so much about what Jewish people have historically gone through and how it impacts all of us to this day. Thank you, Lisa, for bringing such awareness to everyone in such a powerful and moving way.

Things We Hide From the Light is taking me FOREVER to read. It’s great, I’ve just been so focused on listening to audiobooks lately! Usually listening to audiobooks compliments my reading of physical books but in this case, it’s actually taking AWAY from the time I usually would be spending physical books. Since I have started reading ThingsWe Hide From the Light, I have listened to 4.5 audiobooks!

What I’m Currently Reading:
He Gets That From Me {Jacqueline Friedland}
I quite literally cannot put this book down. Without giving away any spoilers, I will say that it has made me THINK…and I find myself thinking about it so often throughout the day when I’m not reading. The ethical and moral dilemmas that this book questions are FASCINATING and as of this point (I have exactly 99 pages left) I’m not sure how it will end and I’m also not sure how I WANT it to end. It’s amazing, I HIGHLY recommend this book. I’ll post a full review once I finish reading but in the meantime…READ IT. It’s awesome.

As for the best coffee news ever (for me at least)…a brand new and sparkling Dunkin’ WITH A DRIVE THRU has opened within a walkable distance from my house. It’s clean, it’s beautiful, it smells amazing (new construction), the employees are so nice, and the owner told me…and I quote…”Make yourself comfortable. This is your home now.”

Well that was quite the unintentional break that I took from blogging! Ugh. It’s been…well it’s been a bit stressful for me over here and unfortunately blogging just kind of took a back burner for the past few weeks. I’m so sorry! The catalyst for all of the stress is that I sprained my ankle last month and it’s made me quite sad. I wish I had some big elaborate story of how it happened but alas, I do not. I was walking towards a book (always) and I fell down a stair. In my own house. A stair that has been there since we bought the house 12 years ago. I was so laser focused on the book (again, always) that I simply forgot about the stair. I flew across the room and absolutely nothing about the scenario was graceful or feminine. So for the past 4 weeks, I’ve been elevating and icing my poor ankle 3 times a day. It’s SO much better but still very much healing. I’m totally ok! I’ve still been out and about, working, etc. just trying not to overdo it.
Although I have most definitely been out and about, pretty much anytime I’ve been home I’ve been doing the good ol’ icing and elevating (I’m still doing this 3 times each day). Here are some glamorous scenes from the past month, lol:
**NOTE: The above pictures were all taken within the first two weeks of my injury and I was using frozen peas like a boss. However, I have since ordered an AMAZING little contraption off of Amazon and I highly recommend it! Much better and fancier than the peas! I tried to link it for you but Amazon says it’s now unavailable. Aaaaand now my book blog has turned into a medical device discussion. Lovely.**
If you are new blog reader, you should know that this definitely happens to me more often that it should. Since I have started blogging, I have broken my elbow (story HERE) and broken my toe (story HERE). One miiiiiiiight call me clumsy. That’s not true….EVERYONE calls me clumsy. Lord.
Like I said, I am feeling SO much better and I even wore high heels for the first time since all of this happened! Saturday night was the best night filled with love and support for the beautiful Lisa Barr. I feel so honored that I was invited to her amazing book launch party! I will definately elaborate on this party and all of it’s amazingness in a future blog post but for now, here’s a photo of me from the party (wearing big girl high heels with a bum ankle, lol):
The GOOD news is that being off of my feet has given me PLENTY of time to read! I’ve read 3 books and have listened to 3 audiobooks since I fell! I will work on writing and getting those reviews posted ASAP.

My Review of Woman on Fire {Lisa Barr}:
Lisa Barr, I absolutely adore you and your books.
Woman on Fire is so interesting, fascinating, and wonderful. The characters were fantastic (Ellis was my favorite) and the storylines were complicated and all woven together flawlessly.
I learned SO MUCH from reading this book. I had no idea about the topic of stolen art during this time period and I found the details FASCINATING. Combine that fascinating story with absolutely brilliant writing and this book is just wonderful.
The last 100ish pages were AMAZING. My favorite part of the entire book! I don’t think I took a single breath while reading those pages, omg. I was allllll in. Heart pounding, tears streaming. Awesome. Unforgettable.
Unrelated Side Note: I want a pair of Anika Baums. Badly.
Lisa, I LOVE YOU! Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful book with me. I’m so happy to be able to spread the word and to be a member of the select bunch who has been able to be the first to read this amazing story. After I finish reading Woman on Fire, I’ll be starting one of these 2 books. I can’t decide which! If you have read either of these books (or even if you haven’t!), please let me know which you think I should read next (NO SPOILERS)!

Ahhhh I’ve had my advanced reader’s copy of Lisa Barr’s newest book for MONTHS! I’ve been saving it to read and review closer to it’s publication date and seeing as that date is 3/1…the time for me to read this one is NOW! I’m so excited, I absolutely loved The Unbreakables (you can read my review of that amazing book HERE). I can’t wait to dig into her newest ASAP!

I love that so many of you enjoyed yesterday’s post of the 13 Best Books I’ve Read in 2021! I so enjoyed coming up with that list and having a bit of time to reflect on my favorite reads from the past year. I clearly read some AMAZING books in 2021!

Buying someone a book can be a difficult task if you aren’t sure what they like to read. I’ve had people buy me books that I couldn’t WAIT to read and I’ve had people buy me books that I…definitely could š
Here in absolutely no particular order are books that I feel would make great gifts. Some are older, some are newer, all are WONDERFUL. I’m linking my previous posts about these books which will give you the book synopsis, my review, and a link to order the books! Hope this helps those of you still looking for the perfect gift this holiday season (or anytime).
Some other gift ideas…a gift card to a local bookshop, a Book of the Month membership, or a bookish coffee mug (I love the one that I bought for myself in this post). Barnes and Noble currently has some CUTE gifts for book lovers (I have pictures and descriptions of them in this post. The mug still haunts me…I regret not buying it).
